Oct. 10 – Oct. 16, 2017:

Oct. 10, 2017 – Oct. 16, 2017:

You’ve wanted to break free, go it alone, and do something brave and unexpected for the last seven years, Aries. Perhaps you’ve been acting on those impulses. This week, a yearning to also be in partnership could also be pulling on your heartstrings. Nevertheless, you could be obsessing about what’s going on in your career.

You might be experiencing competing demands of self, partner and career – as a battle that’s happening in your “monkey mind.” To calm this tendency, I want you to tap into your feeling body. Meditate and while you’re sitting, feel the ground with parts of your body that are touching the ground. Put your hand on your chest, and feel your palm with the skin on the front of your chest as you do this.

Rest deep into your body and your subconscious, eyes closed, quiet, and take a moment to be alone with yourself. You’re connecting to the past. Also, try connecting with your past: to mother, to father, to your childhood and the way we all grow up and experience both beautiful and weird things as children. Alternatively, call a parent or family member and talk about the past.

If your thoughts get morose this week, if you feel fear or distrust – particularly relating to your partners – remember that (especially this week) you have the power to shift your perspective back to the expansive, positive and optimistic perspective that you have been diligently working toward. Go back to the words “to calm this tendency” and try that meditation again…

Oct. 10, 2017 – Oct. 16, 2017:

I expect everyone to have erratic and unexpected thoughts this week, Taurus. In your case, it might feel like disharmony in your daily routines, daily work and health practices. Perhaps you’re focused on the details required to have a peaceful mind, but the outer chaos of the world surprises you out of maintaining that clarity. Perhaps you’re a rebel – fighting to end human suffering – and you need to destabilize people out of their mundane “ruts” in order to do it. You want to say to them, “Live a little! Step out of your comfort zone. It doesn’t matter what other people think. Sometimes disharmony is needed!”

If this balancing act makes you feel pessimistic this week, I encourage you to get psychological, get deep, put on your Sherlock Holmes hat and do some investigating in the closet of your subconscious. If the mind gets unstable, remember to focus your thoughts on your *own* skeletons in the closet, and you can shift yourself into a more expansive way of thinking. The effort could serve to stabilize you, and provide a sense of ground in your daily routines. This week, you may also enjoy connecting with a sibling, talking about your past, or participating in a group meditation or dance.

Mercury, your ruling planet, has been traveling particularly close to the Sun. If you could look directly at the (and it stopped shining), you’d see Mercury holding hands with big papa Sunshine this week. What does is it mean when the planet of communication (Gemini’s ruling planet) is conjunct the planet of personal identity (the Sun) in Libra?

I think it means that you want to show up and shine bright, be social and be curious about what other people are about. You also want balance, harmony and love. You’re more creative than usual and you want to express that creativity by letting it shine through your voice, through your writing, through your heart and with children. Maybe you want to give birth to an artistic idea, just for the pure fun of it!

Ultimately, you want to have fun this week! The thing is, there could be another voice inside you that’s looking deep – and I mean deeper than deep – into your psychological spaces. Maybe you feel like, “There’s so much work to be done.” The voice says, “You need to take care of this responsibility and that responsibility. You can’t just have fun with your best buddies all the time. You need to get organized, and take care of the practical, organizational activities that life requires. You’re probably good at hiding this disorganization from the world, but – in the end – you can’t hide it from yourself, and you know it’s got to get done.”

The gravity of these details could be raining on your “fun parade” this week, Gemini, but there’s a way out. Feel free, flip things over to the positive side, zoom out, see the big-big picture. Yes, you can go deep and look at all the creepy stuff that’s wrong with how you organize your secret self. But bring the jolly old man – who has seen it all but still has a smile on his face – with you as a companion. Also, consider turning to your long-term partners. You might find new, freedom-inspiring perspectives from your long-term partners this week.

To recap: If you want to shift from the “macabre mind” to the “free and expansive mind” — and if you want to have some fun — it will take a bit of diligence. However, if you make an effort, you’ll have all the mental energy you need to stay in alignment with FUN.

This week, you’re the one who knows what everybody needs. We need nurturing, we need kindness, we need to honor our personal histories, our family roots — and we need to tap into the wisdom of the divine nurturing mother. We need a spiritual philosophy that brings us directly in touch with God, source, the divine — or something that feels truly holy. I’m thinking of a Sufi dancer, spinning and turning in the womb of God. We need that, Cancer.

Can you be that for us this week, Cancer? Can you give us a big hug when we’re obsessing about all the weird stuff that’s going on? Can you whisper into our ears, reminding us that there’s a bigger perspective, but it’s one we have to work for? Can you show us by your example, that if you put one foot in front of the other — and do your chores and take care of your health — that you really can whistle while you work?

Even when the tough gets tough, it’s all for good. Many of us may be tempted to get pessimistic this week. You might be feeling the strain as well — particularly between your family concerns (or your needs and home) versus the intensity of your long-term partnerships. All that said, I think your sign is uniquely suited to navigate the cosmos right now. Please stay tender and warm for us. We need your kind, nurturing compassion this week.

Do you have siblings, Leo? Or, a “sister/brother from another mother?” You might find them especially interested in talking to you right now. Or, maybe you’re interested in talking to them. This would be a great week to communicate with your siblings (or sibling-figures) and see what kind of insights they can give you about yourself, who you are, and how you best shine in the world.

In chatting with your siblings, try to steer the conversation toward love, fun, play, creativity and art. How can you get serious about bringing more of this into your life? That’s where you’ll get the most benefit from these conversations — because your brothers and sister should be in sync with you in these areas.

On the other hand, they might not be in agreement with you regarding your daily routines and daily work. So keep the conversations fun, light-hearted, laughing and sparkly! Don’t get into the topic of the daily, mundane or “boring” areas of life, nor the nitpicky health practices that we all do. Who wants to talk about that anyway?

Maybe you don’t have sibling-figures. Or, maybe your siblings have been so pushy about what they think you ought to be doing that you don’t feel like chatting with them.

Either way, you can really shine in your communication right now — regardless who you’re talking to — as long as you stay *serious* about keeping the conversation positive, uplifting, expansive and optimistic. If you start to talk, think or write too much about dark topics that reflect a distrust for the world, you may want to take destructive action to correct the problems and restore balance. Instead of doing that, I hope you’ll stay positive and recognize that balance and harmony (in love, relationships, art and creativity) require cautious, conservative discipline. I don’t think that rash explosive actions are the way to go right now.

Oct. 10, 2017 – Oct. 16, 2017:

Are you thinking about your financial security or your beliefs and possessions this week, Virgo? We all have things we hold onto dearly. Think of a toddler with her security blanket as a metaphor.

Your bank account — and its state of balance and harmony — could be your source of feeling secure, or your source of not feeling secure, depending on its situation. Alternatively, what are the belief systems that help you feel secure? Maybe you believe in reincarnation. Maybe you believe in the Christian concept of heaven. Maybe you gain a sense of security through your partner. Maybe you’ve got all these nicknacks and other things you’ve collected over the years that you’re holding onto, and they make you feel secure.

I wonder if you’ll be feeling suspicious about your belief systems, your financial situations, your state of “security,” and the things you’ve been holding onto this week. Maybe, you’re even obsessing about one of these things. This could relate to the way you want to have fun, express yourself creatively and basically be in love with life. Maybe the monkey-mind says something like this, “You should focus more on having fun, focus more on your art and creativity.” Maybe it’s something about a belief that you’re not being artistic enough, you’re not expressing your love the right way.

How are these “possessions” or “beliefs” that you’re holding onto interfering with — or supporting — the way you want to have fun, express yourself creatively and basically be in love with life. Maybe the monkey-mind says something like this, “You should focus more on having fun, focus more on your artistic expression and creativity, focus more on children, focus more, love or expressing your heart’s desire.” Do you have a belief that you’re not being artistic enough, or that you’re not expressing your love the right way?

Whatever is going on, your thoughts – just like everyone else in the zodiac this week — could veer toward the negative or the macabre. Fortunately, you have the energy right now to turn those negative thoughts around if you’re willing to be diligent in seeing the silver lining. Take the big picture perspective. Zoom out. You have the energy and stick-to-it-ness to do this right now – and you can probably snap out your mental funks. To expand your mind and see the positive, it might help to remember the moments — connected to your family roots or when you were a child — when you felt completely expansive and free.

As a recap: What are you holding onto — what are you obsessing over — regarding the way you don’t experience joy the right way, regarding the way you don’t express your creativity the right way, or regarding children. Is something in this area making you feel insecure? Time to let that go — time to get serious about the silver lining by zooming out and seeing the big, BIG picture.

It’s possible that you’ve been dealing with some instability in your partnership space for about the last seven years, Libra. This could relate to business partners, romantic partners – anything in the long-term category relating to business, love and friendship. Your Sun is in the sign of partnership. They say, as a Libran, you’re the master of balancing your needs with the needs of others, you’re a charismatic conflict negotiator, you’re a relationship counselor. You’re the artistic, elegant balancer.

They say, as a Libran, you’re excellent at partnership. You’re the master of balancing your needs with the needs of others. You’re a charismatic conflict negotiator. You’re a relationship counselor. Basically, you’re the artistic, elegant balancer seeking harmony in all situations.

Over the last seven years, however, you’ve had the planet Uranus passing through your seventh house of relationships. That means you’ve been experiencing change, unpredictability, aloofness, creative genius and eccentric oddness from your partners. Perhaps this is because you’ve been more attracted to these types, or they have been more attracted to you.

This may have expressed itself as you falling in love with someone who wants to stay “free” and do his or her own thing. If the relationship worked, it would have been a different and unique kind of long-term commitment. Alternatively, you could have found yourself in partnership with some quirky, eccentric people too – causing the two of you to look like an odd pair. The rule of thumb has been “expect the unexpected” in your relationship space, whether it was a love or business partnership.

Fortunately, you’re on the tail end of this dynamic, which comes to a close around May 2018. In the meantime, this week, you might be thinking about it, talking about it, and possibly feeling judgment or suspicion about it.

In addition, you may be intensely focused on home and family, almost obsessed with that right now. And, instability in your long-term partnerships could be affecting your commitment to a stable, traditional home environment.

Here’s what to do: If you start feeling negative — keep in mind that everyone is susceptible to a darker, gloomier mindset this week. And for Libra, in particular, try to get philosophical about it all. Try to see the big picture symbolism behind what’s happening. Yes, see the world and your situations as a giant deck of Tarot cards trying to communicate something to you.

I want you to talk about and write about the way you’re interpreting this symbolism. However, please do it with optimism. Your efforts will help all of us stay positive and open-minded this week.

I haven’t mentioned this to all of the other signs yet, but on Oct. 11, Jupiter moves into the sign of Scorpio. It will be for the next year. Jupiter is the planet of abundance, expansion, joy, prosperity, philosophy, long-distance travel and good luck. Jupiter will spend the next twelve months crossing through your First House — which is the house of “self, the body and starting new things.”

When Jupiter makes contact with something, it expands. This could mean excess and indulgence in all the qualities Scorpio is known for – the good and the bad. As such: I want you to expand the “good” rather than expand the chance of Scorpio to be suspicious, to obsess about negative things or to try and escape his/her intense non-verbal emotions through substances. Flipped on its head, the higher expression of this is “being the dogged investigator,” holding onto a beautiful thought until it becomes real, a willingness to experience the power of deep emotional truths and enjoyment of healthy sensual experience.

Jupiter in your first house of self means luck, abundance, and opportunities to start new things that bring you joy. To take advantage of this, you’ll have to make the effort, or take the risk (or just say Yes!) in order to seize the new projects that come your way.

Which aspects of Scorpio do you want to expand? How about Scorpio’s concentration skills, or Scorpio’s unique capacity to be the light bearer in the midst of dark and scary emotions and feelings. Or, Scorpio’s ability to be the “sorcerer-alchemist” who can heal others, and sit with them in their darkest hour. Maybe you’ll be the investigator, digging deeper, leaving no stone unturned until you find the truth in some area.

What are you feeling or dreaming about your love life, creativity and the way you have fun? What new thing can you start this year that’s in harmony with your love needs and your need for travel?

Finally, over the next year, have fun Scorpio. Stay positive. Stay jovial. And express the highest vibrations of your sign. The world needs your purging, powerful, transmutational abilities in the year ahead.

Oct. 10, 2017 – Oct. 16, 2017:

We divide the astrological chart into “houses” to indicate what area of your life a certain planet is affecting. The houses follow a timeline of human development. You might find this interesting – right now – because the planet Jupiter (the planet of luck, abundance and expansion) is moving into your Twelfth House of magic, behind the scenes actions, secrets mysticism.

Jupiter was in your Twelfth House 12 years ago, Sagittarius. What was happening with your “mystical” side 12 years ago, your connection to God. Was it expanding, getting bigger? Did you join a meditation group? Did you start Sufi Dancing? Were people doing good things for you behind the scenes and you didn’t know about it?

Here’s the thing: We’re born through the First House, as an individual with a body. Then we start to develop base belief systems that help us feel safe and secure (Second House) and so on…

The arc of life takes us through different stages until we get to the Eighth House where the things that we built get destroyed, washed away, ripped from our proud, grasping, little fingers. This experience moves us into the Ninth House, where we update our life philosophy (perhaps through higher learning) because we have to take a more expansive long-view, perspective. Armed with the knowledge and philosophy we acquire in the Ninth House, we diligently apply austere discipline and rule-following to build a structure (Tenth House) that prevents the catastrophe from happening again – and we may become respected and known for it.

Next, we arrive at the Eleventh House. And we replicate what we’ve learned for the benefit of all mankind. We run to the hilltop and call out to the crowds below, teaching them how they can improve their lives. We apply our knowledge/wisdom/foresight for the benefit of humanity. They think we’re magical for it, but we know that the knowledge was born out of hard work and discipline — and a love and hope for mankind.

Finally, we come to the Twelfth, where we begin focusing on nonmaterial concerns and merge with the infinite oneness of all. We’re sensitive and in-tune with the suffering and elation of the world. This space may also be unconscious and hidden from most people. Sometimes they call the Twelfth House, the house of our undoing and the house of hidden enemies. It also rules hospitals and prisons — basically places where we can get stuck.

However, with Jupiter coming to your Twelfth, I’m hoping that you’ll be feeling a sense of good luck and optimism about the things that you cannot see. Maybe, over the next year, your connection to the oneness that is all, your connection to the Divine, your compassion for the emotional state of the world will be expanded.

In conclusion: Jupiter — the planet of expansion, prosperity and abundance — is coming to your Twelfth House for the next 12 months. Do you have a connection to “God,” Sagittarius? Do you want to Sufi dance or meditate? The next year can be viewed as an opportunity to expand your mystical nature.

Capricorn, you’re famous for your ability to endure hard work and sacrifice. The world piles more responsibility on your shoulders, and you keep going. No matter the task, you know it will get done, and done the right way. And you do it. This aspect of Capricorn reminds me of the postman’s creed, which was translated

This aspect of Capricorn reminds me of the postman’s creed, which was translated from Herodotus, a Greek writer. Herodotus was describing the Persian mail carrier system from 500 B.C. when he said:

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

Capricorn, you’ve had to continue your work despite a lot of discomforts lately. I know this because I’m a Capricorn too. This week, however, I want you to consider something that all Capricorns should ask themselves: Are you feeling grumpy? Are you feeling a little too austere, a little too practical?

Are you feeling grumpy? Are you feeling a little too austere, or a little too practical?

This week, you have the opportunity to be soft, caring, compassionate, nurturing, mothering, sweet and loving — more so than usual. The external world could even be pressuring you to express your softer side. If your long-term friends or your partners in love or business try to hint that you should soften up, this week, don’t take offense. Rather, listen to what they have to say and let them teach you. Embrace the big, loving momma inside you – or accept a big loving embrace from the momma-bear in your life.

If your long-term friends or your partners in love and business are hinting that you should soften up this week, don’t take offense. Rather, listen to what they have to say and let them teach you. Embrace the big, loving momma inside you – and accept a big loving embrace from the momma-bear in your life if s/he offers it.

Finally, when you speak this week, speak with compassion, love and softness — as if you know the pain and suffering of others intimately like it were your own.

It’s a good time to soften any walls of austerity that help you “get the job done.” And, in place of this hardness, give your community of peers and long-term business partners, friends and love partners the nurturing care they subconsciously long for (even if they can’t tell you directly).

Can you feel the emotional needs of others this week, and respond to them, Capricorn? I know you can.

Oct. 10, 2017 – Oct. 16, 2017:

Jupiter is moving into the sign of Scorpio on Oct. 11. That means it’s been hovering around your Midheaven (your point of career, reputation, fame and highest ambitions) for a couple weeks now. As of Tuesday, it’s officially there, crossing into your Tenth house of fame, reputation and career.

What does this mean for Aquarians? Maybe you’re feeling hopeful about the way you’re seen in the world. Maybe you’re feeling good about your career prospects. Maybe you’ll get an interesting new career opportunity over the next few weeks?

Keep your eyes peeled, Aquarius. Your fame sector (a.k.a., your “highest ambitions” sector) is swelling up big, happy, prosperous, jolly and generous. Jupiter brings gifts. He’s the Santa Claus planet, except for one thing: Jupiter doesn’t just plop his gifts in your lap. Opportunities may present themselves regarding your career right now, but it’s your choice to seize them.

Generally, astrologers interpret Jupiter transits as favorable and “good.” But they don’t have to be. Since this transit is dealing with your fame and reputation sector – or how you’re seen from a distance – it could make you appear more Scorpionic than ever (for good or for bad), specifically as you’re seen from afar and as you comport yourself in your career (read the Scorpio horoscope for this week and you’ll understand more about Scorpio’s “higher” and “lower” expressions).

Here’s another point: Is there a part of you that wants “cuddling” and “snuggles” to be a part of your daily routine? This week, try to weave in some cuddle-snuggle time into your daily life. Or, try to be a nurturing momma to someone or something this week. I’m not exactly sure why or how, but I think that being a “momma” — or channeling your inner nurturing side — will support your good luck in your career/reputation (particularly this week).

All this aside, it’s possible that you want cuddles, and you’re not getting them. It’s possible you want to feel nurtured — or you want to be a nurturing momma bear — and it’s just not working out. If that’s the case, I think there’s something in your blind spot, something you’re not aware of, that’s preventing you from experiencing this energy. I wish I could help you out, but you’re the only one who can figure out what that is. Perhaps, just be okay with leaving the answer unknown for now.

Finally, write these dates down: Oct. 24 – 27

Those are very lucky dates for your career, as the Sun comes to conjunct Jupiter on your “career, fame and reputation” point. What’s going on in this area of your life, Aquarius? Are people seeing you and appreciating you, and celebrating you more than usual? Are you getting accolades? Is a new life-path, job or career opportunity showing up that better reflects who you truly are and what you want to do in the world.

Oct. 10, 2017 – Oct. 16, 2017:

Your life philosophy is going to feel the expansion of Jupiter from now through the next 12 months, Pisces. Luck, prosperity and joy can be found in your life philosophies, higher education, long-distance travel, foreign places and foreign ideas. Maybe you’ll go on a trip. Maybe you’ll go on a mind-expanding journey into new and foreign ideas while staying right where you are.

Pisces is a water sign with profound emotional wisdom. It’s is said that Pisces can feel the emotional states of others, without boundaries, and understand them like the feelings are their own. Can you do that, Pisces?

My friend Ahmad, a Pisces and astrologer, explained Pisces water to me. He said Pisces water is like a fog. It gets into and feels everything. Maybe this is why I like to be around Pisces — because they feel me, they don’t judge me, and they quietly honor my emotional state in a way that nurtures my soul. I wonder if this tendency of Pisces – where you can feel others’ emotions and potentially confuse them with your own – is the reason why Pisces benefit from spending time alone, in the quiet and peace of only themselves.

Does Pisces feel (either consciously or subconsciously) the emotional states of others, in addition to the suffering of all humanity)? If that’s true, I imagine that the life philosophy of Pisces is a little less than optimistic at times — maybe even a little macabre. If I were so deeply in touch with everyone’s fears, suffering, sadness, and their idealized dreams and fantasies that may never come true, it would be difficult for me to stay hopeful and optimistic too. I might feel like Santa Claus, if his sleigh broke down and he couldn’t give all those sweet and loving children the Christmas presents they so desperately wanted.

Do you feel that way Pisces?

I’m not saying that Pisces are pessimistic. A better way of describing you would be complex and beyond my emotional comprehension. Pisces: You weave magical dreams with ecstasy, sadness with love, anxiety with compassion and joy with divinity — all at the same time.

Whatever your personal life philosophy happens to be right now, Pisces. I think it’s going to feel lighter, more expansive, more joyful, more hopeful, more prosperous, freer and perhaps a little more indulgent over the next 12 months.

One final thing: This week, are you feeling the stirrings of love, creativity, fun and joy in your heart? Is your need for fun being nurtured? Did you get love struck by a person, an idea or a dream? Is there something you want to express emotionally but you haven’t done it yet?

Chances are, you’re a little bit too shy to express all this in the light of day this week. But, hold onto that feeling, Pisces. Let it expand in your heart. In about two weeks (from Oct. 24 – 27), I think you’ll be ready to express these stirrings. And, these “feelings” will support your more hopeful and expansive mindset in the year ahead.
